Current “Mary Worth” artist June Brigman and former “Mary Worth” artist Joe Giella were recently together at the Baltimore Comic Convention!
Former “Mary Worth” artist Joe Giella will be honored as The Hero Initiative’s Lifetime Achievement recipient at the 2016 Harvey Awards during Baltimore Comic-Con on September 3! The Hero Initiative is a charity that helps veteran comic creators in medical or financial need.
From the Urban Dictionary: It means “living inside an Idaho potato”, or a very small space. Metaphorically, it refers to someone who is not paying attention because he is daydreaming, or under the influence, or otherwise wrapped up within his own very narrow sphere of interest or frame of reference.
Comics Kingdom’s “Editor’s Dispatch” featured a talk with Karen and June HERE!
Saturday, July 23, 2016, features the last “Mary Worth” strip drawn by the legendary Joe Giella. After decades of incredible work, Joe is taking much deserved time away from the drawing board.
June Brigman and her husband Roy (who are currently doing the Sundays) will be creating the art for the dailies too.
Joe will still be accepting commissions for paintings and other artwork, but without the relentless syndication deadlines! If you attend a Comic Con in San Diego or elsewhere, you might run into him.
